Some of you may know me as a fanfiction writer - I was part of a Harry Potter fanfic community for a very long time and, now that I have decided to concentrate all my writing efforts on my original fiction, I miss the awesome discussions about writing and the reviews I used to get from readers and, most of all, the people. Hopefully, through this blog, we can start a similar community conversation about speculative fiction writing in general.
As my penname suggests I am a huge fan of the Lord of the Rings - hereafter referred to as LoTR. I am also a fan of the Harry Potter books, Michael Crichton's fiction, the Temeraire novels, Pern, and various other science fiction and fantasy authors, universes, and stand-alone works.
The one thing I find most fascinating in the genre of speculative fiction is world-building. I love to read works with good world-building, I love to build my own worlds, societies, and magic systems, and I love to discuss it too. The reviews I post on this blog will contain a world-building rating.
When I do review huge series in the magnitude of LoTR and Harry Potter I will split it into two options: one for newcomers who aren't familiar with the universe, and one for fans.
My huge appetite for fiction cannot be satisfied by my budget, this is why the library is my favorite magical realm. Most of the books reviewed here were borrowed from the library, with the exception of things like LoTR and HP - I have my own copies of those!
Please leave a comment. Since this is the first post, let me know what kinds of things you'd like to see on my blog. Which books would you recommend/like for me to review?
