Magazine Cover/Banner Art

I haven't read anything awesome (or even just ok enough to be worth writing about) in a while. So if you actually read this blog and you have recommendations for me that would be very much appreciated!

Because of the nature of the genre and the fact that there's very few constraints on the illustrators' imagination sci-fi and fantasy related art is very impressive. Alot of magazines make use of this - they make better use of it than genre book publishers, in my opinion. Not that I frequently pick up print copies of magazines, but most magazines show images of the covers on their websites and some of the online magazines have awesome cover art too.

I first started noticing cover art when On Spec had an online gallery of sorts on their website and on facebook. Their website changed and I can't find the images on facebook anymore, but you can still see tiny icons of them in the back issues section. It's a shame they took those off, because they were a great feature.

Writers of the Future also makes excellent use winning illustrations in their trailers. They also generally use imagery very well in their new website.

Other magazines with awesome cover/banner art on their webpages include Lightspeed, Fantasy magazine, and Beneath Ceaseless Skies. Personally, I think more magazines should look at the way they use illustrations on their websites.

OK, I should stop this post right here, but I am interested in what you guys think of this. What magazines do you think have the most awesome cover/banner art? Please leave a comment and let me know what you think...and don't forget to leave book (or movie) recs so I can go back to doing reviews!
