Daily SF Review, and some Randomness

After my Heroes reviews (which were more like rants to be honest) I've decided to try to further organize my longer reviews so that you can get more info in the "brief" section including a world-building rating, a characterization rating, and so on. So that is in progress and you will hopefully see it in my next book or movie review.

Also coming up is a review of Robert J Sawyer's Iterations and Other Stories

But let's move on to today's topic. Daily Science Fiction is an online magazine of short stories. Although they have an online archive their main feature is that they e-mail a story to you every day of the week (Mon-Fri). I signed up for it a while ago, and while I don't read the story every single day I've found it a very valuable thing to have.

The stories are very brief, with the Friday ones usually being a bit longer, and I have been very impressed with the quality of the writing so far. In fact, as a writer I learned alot about the art of short fiction from them and about how much impact a very short tale can have on the reader. I've always had trouble keeping my own writing brief (which I'm sure you could tell by my blog posts!) so this was very informative for me.

I would highly recommend adding yourself to the mailing list. I often don't have time to go digging around for good short stories, but this way they come straight to me in my inbox on a regular basis and as I said, the quality is some of the best out there.

*gasp* This is actually going to be a short blog post for once!
