The Great Merlin Fan Challenge
This post includes all the details of the challenge as well as a new timeline. Please respond to this post with your comments/links, not the episode 8 review in which I first introduced the challenge.
The Great Merlin Fan Challenge
To write an episode of Merlin in which his magic is revealed. (It must be revealed to Arthur, although, of course, you're free to reveal it to whoever else you like along the way as well!) You can place it anywhere in the series. It could be in season one or season 5 or anything in between. Pick the time/place in which you think it would have fit best. Once you're done writing it:
Post it online somewhere. On your blog or on a fanfic website (though I'd prefer not to have to go to fanfic.net, because it used to give my computer weird viruses when I used to go there). Then post a link to it in a comment to this post. You may also post links to things written by others, as long as you get their permission before you nominate their stories! Also, I don't mind much if the chapter/episode was written a year or two ago, as long as it provides a well-written interpretation of the reveal!
Deadline:
Tuesday Dec 18th will be your last day to submit an entry by posting a link in a comment to this blog post.
Prize:
I will give the best written chapters/episodes that I enjoy the most a lengthy review on this blog.
Anyone interested in offering additional incentives, such as banners for the winning chapters and so on, please leave a comment about it!
Timeline:
Now - Dec 18th: Open for Submissions.
Episodes/Chapters will be entered by posting a link in the comments section.
Feel free to leave reviews and comments on the entries (in their own comments/reviews sections).
Also, please share this challenge with fans that you know or on fan websites so that people know about and are able to enter the challenge.
Dec 19th - 23rd: Reading Period.
I will finish reading the entries and make a decision.
At this time I will also make a post titled "Reading Period" in which any fan can leave their thoughts on which of the entries deserves the win and why. I will take these into consideration in making my final decision!
Dec 23rd or 24th: Winner Announcement
A post will be made announcing the winner and their prize review will be posted here on this blog either on the 24th or a couple of days later. I will post this BEFORE I post my review of the final Merlin episode.
Enjoy and good luck! I look forward to reading some quality reveal story-lines from other fans who, like me, have been waiting for this moment for ages! :D
