I have been trying to re-watch the first two hobbit movies in preparation for the upcoming release of the final film. After re-watching An Unexpected Journey I just wanted to come here to express my feeling that it is WAAAAAY too long. I didn't feel this when I saw it in the cinema the first time, because a lot of it was new to me (all the added Azog storylines and such) but let's face it, it has less of the re-watch value that LOTR had and it's just too long. The whole first 30 mins were unnecessary and - this time around - kind of painful to watch, and the lengthy conversations in Rivendell and such were too tedious.
And I'm a fan. A huge fan. I can't imagine how boring it might be for people who aren't sold on the whole middle-earth thing yet...
